Chief Patrick Eholor lambastes Burna Boy over the public disregard at the Obi Cubana club in Victoria Island: Nigeria deserves an apology.
Chief Patrick Eholor, a human rights activist and the founder of One Love, has reacted to a circulating video of Nigerian pop star Burna Boy for the June 8 incident calling him a disgrace and regrettable role model for the shooting and assault on a harmless and unarmed man in the club while defending his wife.
In an interview, with an All Campus Show correspondent, he rebuked and questioned the press seal conscience in killing the story because of the personality involved.
"Burna Boy will not do that in America because his career will end. He is a disgrace and his demeanor attitude can derail many youths emulating and looking up to him. Although he has been arrested and questioned, however the press has shut us out. For two weeks now, nobody has reported any news regarding Burna Boy’s misbehavior. I urge the press to go after Burna Boy and find out exactly what transpired that day. “
"Look at R-Kelly, a legend. He is in jail today because America cannot condole such. If he dared this in Canada, he would be jailed. "
"Remember how Will Smith on national TV slapped Chris Rock for a comment? He felt insulted because of the comment made to his wife and that ended his career. This personality, although bigger than life, ended his career because of that singular act."
‘Why will Burna boy, who is a local star although recognized internationally, be treated differently? He cannot be compared to R. Kelly or 50 cents, and these guys are well behaved."
Furthermore, he stated that he did not expect the husband of the lady whom Burna Boy disregarded to remain silent. As a result, he challenges the feminist community to take action to combat this inhumane attitude.
"Where are the feminist on this matter? Where is the Ministry of Women’s Affairs? What is the difference between this act by Burna Boy and END SARS? Not only do black lives matter, but female rights should be respected as well. Also, most artists in the industry have not come out to condemn his misbehavior. What happened to KC, Tiwa, Savage, and the industry’s biggest stars?
Again, he sternly criticized Obi Cubana for not commenting on the incident that took place at his nightclub in Victoria Island.
"Cubana should be ashamed for sealing his conscience." He is not a role model for young people; rather, he is a spoiler. I haven't seen anything good from Cubana; he was one of the public figures seen with drug dealer Abba Kyari, who was charged with trafficking illegal drugs. "
In his final words, he calls on Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba and The Attorney General of Nigeria to caution Nigeria’s police system to discipline and shun injustice.
"I think policemen need to wake up from their slumber." The police need to identify crimes when they are committed. To prevent another occurrence, we should be brave and courageous enough to resist the likes of Burna Boy. The abnormality will then be drastically reduced in our society.
"When we don’t have enough policemen to police our society, why should four police escorts be attached to Burna Boy?
"All men are born equal." I don’t go around with a police escort. He should go and get a personal bodyguard. Burna Boy, come clean, apologize, and be a role model to end all of this; otherwise, your career will suffer.
“He should not go free. Investigative journalism in Nigeria is as good as dead. If you had messed with my daughter or my people (Ultimate Equal), he would have messed with me as well.”
”Burna Boy needs to come out and apologize to Nigerians and the world because if his excessive is not checked, it means Burna perhaps might have disrespected women and raped them without any knowledge or interference because of his character.”
We recall that on June 8, Burna Boy in a club in Victoria Island owned by Obi Cubana became aggressive after a married woman refused to accept his advances.
