The Edo State Commissioner for Women's Affairs, Chief Olabisi Idaomi, has joined women globally to celebrate International Family Day. The annual event that showcases, empowers, and celebrates families for Sustainable Development was a success in Edo State as Idaomi preached love among the family, saying that is the bedrock for a working family.

Idaomi celebrated with all the families in the world and led the Edo family affairs with a press briefing on Day Break program on Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) both Television and Radio that lasted for 45 minutes and 30 minutes respectively, speaking on the plans and future of the ministry of women affairs in Edo State.

In her statement, Idaomi said "Family being the bedrock of the society and society has been challenged with calamity, various unpalatable situations and the fact is that this is caused by broken families, we have spoken to Edo people today about bringing the families back together, loving each other."

Furthermore, Idaomi said "We talked about co-parenting and for those who their children have grown up, whether in school or abroad, myself and the personal secretary decided to go into fostering, this is a situation where lonely parents can take up a child to themselves, so fostering is a type of responsibility that is bestowed on one who has love to give."

According to the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Joy Irenonsen Ihensekhien, who shared her experience about her trip to Kenya, "We were trained that a lot of children kept in the orphanage home for too long, they are more than 18 years and doing nothing there that we should go back to our different states in Nigeria to introduce it and we are back now, ready to go into fostering for the children to have a meaningful life."

The Commissioner for Edo State Women's Affairs also projected that "Nigeria Corporate Giants should stand firmly with the ministry to empower 24,000 women into a wide range of self-employment like Mechanical Engineering, Farming of all types, and more other lucrative businesses."

The project has already kicked off, as the commissioner in the spirit of celebrating international family day presented cash prize of N500,000 to five families each to establish and or to improve their business in order to make the family stronger, courtesy of Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo.

Chief Idaomi in final conclusion said "A major success today was reuniting a boy-child with his family, that was put in the orphanage and forgotten there for 10 years because the only two people involved in the adoption died without notifying other family members."
