In line with the unwavering commitment of the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi,mni OFR towards strengthening the operational efficiency and professionalism of personnel across the federation, the Edo State Command has continued to record remarkable strides in personnel development and capacity building.
Over Two Hundred (200) officers and men of the Edo State Command were formally presented with certificates after successfully completing various professional and security-related courses aimed at enhancing their competence in service delivery, intelligence gathering, disaster management, crime prevention, and protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.
The courses include VIP Protection Training, Institute of Disaster Management and Safety Science, Security and Intelligence Courses, Institute of Public Safety, Crime Prevention and Correctional Administration amongst others.
The colourful presentation ceremony took place during the weekly Command Security Lecture held at the State Command Headquarters in Benin City, where the State Commandant, Commandant Saidi Ayinla Akintayo, lauded the officers for their dedication, discipline, and willingness to improve themselves professionally in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
Speaking during the presentation, the Commandant reiterated that since his assumption of office as the State Commandant of Edo State Command, he has remained resolute and intentional in prioritizing the training and retraining of personnel as a strategic tool for improving operational effectiveness, professionalism, intelligence-driven policing, and efficient service delivery.
According to him, no security organization can effectively discharge its mandate without continuous capacity building and exposure of personnel to modern security techniques and global best practices. He noted that the Command has witnessed tremendous improvement in operational efficiency, intelligence gathering, disaster response, anti-vandal activities, conflict management, and protection of lives and property across the State as a direct result of the various trainings and workshops attended by personnel.
Commandant Akintayo further stated that the impact of these trainings has continued to yield positive results in Edo State, especially in the areas of crime prevention, community engagement, intelligence sharing, and rapid response to security challenges. He emphasized that the Command under his leadership will continue to invest heavily in human capital development to ensure that officers remain professionally equipped and mentally prepared to tackle emerging security threats within the State and beyond.
The State Commandant also used the opportunity to profoundly appreciate and commend the visionary leadership of the Commandant General of the Corps, Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi,mni OFR for his unwavering commitment to repositioning the Corps into one of the most respected and dependable security agencies within the nation’s security architecture.
He described the CG as a transformational leader whose administration has brought unprecedented growth, professionalism, discipline, operational advancement, and institutional recognition to the Corps nationwide. According to him, under the able leadership of the Commandant General, the NSCDC has witnessed tremendous improvement in personnel welfare, training opportunities, intelligence operations, inter-agency collaboration, and public confidence.
Commandant Akintayo noted that the reforms and strategic leadership style of the CG have continued to place the Corps on a pedestal of honour and national relevance, thereby making the NSCDC a formidable force in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, disaster management, anti-vandal operations, agro-rangers operations, peace and conflict resolution, and the overall protection of lives and property across the country.
He assured residents of Edo State that the Command remains fully committed to sustaining professionalism, discipline, and proactive security operations in line with the vision and directives of the Commandant General.
The Command equally reaffirmed its readiness to continue collaborating with other security agencies, stakeholders, and members of the public in ensuring a safer and more secure Edo State.
