Unillorin Teaches Vocational Training and Skills to reduce Unemployment.

The University of Illorin has launched an Innovative Skills and Pioneering Entrepreneutship Award focused at providing students with different skills to help reduce Unemployment in the Country .


This programme started its activities in the University on Friday while relating and patnering with different Industry Leaders and artists who will teach the students these vocational skills.


According to the report on the Punch Newspaper, the Vice -Chancellor Proffesor Abdullah Egbewole (SAN) stated that the programme was designed to equip students with chosen skills that they can learn at the Institution during their leisure time.


The VC also stated that the general knowledge is that graduates don't possess vocational skills and these programmes is introduced to stop such notion. 

This training will help the students  to have vocational skills alongside their education. 


However According to the VC participation is not compulsory,  students will be given certificates after the training. He also explained that this training is not only for their students, students from other institutions can participate in the Training, adding that the entire process which will lead to issuance of certificates will be conducted online.


He also emphasized that this training will not only equip the students but will also aid in achieving the Vision1:10:500, which will put the University as world class.


Finally, The Acting Director of the Centre for Research, Development and In-House Training Dr. Abdulkarim Oloyede, stated that this  Training is an All round programme for acquiring skills for the students.
