Years Later Ekehuan Road and Much hyped Gelegele Seaport Remains Underdeveloped.

The lack of progress on the Ekenwan road, particularly the barrack axis, is a cause for concern. It is disheartening to witness an apparent abandonment of a critical infrastructure project, especially in light of increased revenue streams for Edo state. The absence of construction equipment on-site suggests a breakdown in communication between the contractor and relevant authorities or, worse still, a potential misappropriation of funds.

This stagnation raises important questions about the efficacy of the Alaghodaro movement, which seeks to promote sustainable development in Edo state. One would expect that with increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and the removal of subsidies, the state government would allocate sufficient resources to ensure the timely completion of vital projects like the Ekenwan road.

The current situation not only hampers economic growth and ease of transportation but also erodes public trust in the government's ability to fulfill its promises. It is imperative that the authorities responsible for this project provide transparency and accountability regarding the delay, and work expeditiously to resolve any underlying issues to ensure that the people of Edo state reap the benefits of increased revenue.

Indeed, it is perplexing that despite being part of Governor Godwin Obaseki's economic team for several years, Asue Ighodalo has failed to influence the completion of the Ekenwan road project. This is particularly concerning considering the project's critical role in revitalizing the Gelegele seaport, a vital component of Edo state's economic development strategy.

Moreover, Ighodalo's tenure as Chairman of the Alaghodaro Economic Summit Ltd/Gte raises questions about the organization's effectiveness in driving tangible improvements for the state. Despite its stated mission of attracting investments and fostering growth, the ongoing stagnation of the Ekenwan road project suggests that Alaghodaro's recommendations have not translated into the expected results.

Given Ighodalo's long-standing involvement in Edo state's economic affairs and his recent announcement of his gubernatorial aspirations, it is essential that he addresses these concerns and demonstrates a clear plan for prioritizing and executing critical infrastructure projects. Failure to do so may undermine public confidence in his ability to deliver on his promises and lead Edo state towards genuine economic prosperity.
