What the President should do now- Dr. Eholor

President Bola Tinubu's recent speech during the #EndBadGovernance protests in Nigeria left many citizens with mixed emotions. While he touched upon the issues plaguing the nation, his focus on the actions his administration has undertaken since assuming power may have overshadowed the urgency of addressing protesters' demands and the root cause of the demonstrations: hunger.

In highlighting his administration's efforts, the President failed to directly engage with the protesters' pleas and the severity of the hunger crisis that has spurred these demonstrations. Instead of emphasizing his commitment to specific solutions for the hunger crisis, President Tinubu's words appeared more retrospective than prospective.

As a leader, it is crucial for President Tinubu to be transparent and forthcoming about the challenges Nigerians face, while also outlining tangible measures to address the hunger crisis. By acknowledging the urgency of the situation and proposing concrete steps to alleviate the nation's suffering, the President can foster a sense of unity and hope among citizens.

In order to truly engage with Nigerians and gain their confidence, President Tinubu must prioritize addressing the core issues that have driven the protests. By doing so, he can demonstrate his commitment to tackling the hunger crisis and work towards building a stronger, more resilient Nigeria.
