University of Benin medical students association UBEMSA has stayed a campaign against Malaria through the annual health week themed Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Malaria on January 22, 2024. Although, the program was scheduled for the University of Benin main auditorium which was later moved to Doctor's house.
The project WASH seeks promote, health by sanitizing and eradicating Malaria through sanitation and hygiene mentality.
At the symposium, lots of dignitaries were in attendance, talking of Chief Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor otherwise known as Ultimate Equal, the Father of Nigerian Students-FONS, Commissioner for Education, Edo State, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe (Proxy) as well as others are present.
In an epistle message sent by the commissioner for Education through her representative, the clumsy speech spoke about a theoretical solutions to Malaria unlike making a practical speech. Accidentally, one of the invited Students made comment that "the commissioner should in no reason miss this kind of occasion."
Chief Dr Eholor (FoNS) in his statement gave kudos to the organizers of the program, he also talked about how corruption from government makes Malaria to dwell among us.
Dr. Eholor further explained that Malaria comes from dirty environment, stressing that hygiene is one of the antidotes if government is not ready to curb it.
Father of Nigerian Students-FONS at the end of his speech donated the amount of Two Hundred and Fifty thousand naira to support the students for the program.
The occasion was attended Faculty lecturers, the presence of the professors and Doctors added light to the program and unveiled the reasons why Malaria should be curbed like other countries.
