FoNS takes IGP to court over citizens movement on election days.

Chief Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor otherwise known as Ultimate Equal and the Father of Nigerian Students-FONS has taken the Inspector General of Police court over the restrictions of citizens' movements on the election day.

At the High Court today, court 1 of the Federal High Court, Sapele Road, Benin City, the case between the applicants: Chief Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor and the Defendant who is the Inspector General of Police.

Dr. Eholor in an interview with the Journalists said "Police restricts people's movement on the election day is wrong and this is denying we the citizens of our civic responsibility to vote or be voted for, therefore when police restricts, we can say they have ganged up with the disgruntled politicians to allow those they want to allow to go and snatch ballot boxes, to threaten people and I said no to it, that it cannot happen again, noone will stop anyone's movements on the days of election again, that is an entrenchment to our fundamental human rights.

"Though the case was adjourned but I know I am going to win this for the masses again as usual." Eholor said

According to the Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of United States of America, who defines Democracy as "the government of the people, by the people and for the people " it is wrong to stop people from voting and if truly we are practicing democracy, people should be allowed to move in order to cast their vote in any given far or near polling units.

According to Wikipedia.org defines "Suffrage, political franchise, or simply franchise as the right to vote in public, political elections and referendums (although the term is sometimes used for any right to vote).

"In most democracies, eligible voters can vote in elections for representatives. Voting on issues by referendum may also be available."

Therefore, the people should be allowed to exercise their civil rights, to choosing people to represent them in government affairs..
