It was a Black Tuesday at the University of Benin, as She loses Director of Sports Andrew Perez Boubouwei, A fresh graduate of Faculty of Education, University of Benin. Due to alleged negligence.
Following the incident which Students termed 'Preventable Death' , aggrieved Students of University of Benin engaged in a Protest at the University's teaching Hospital (UBTH) accusing the health workers of Negligence.
According to report, Perez was rushed to The University of Benin Teaching Hospital on Sunday, following complaints of stomach pain. Upon arrival at the Hospital, the doctors insisted a deposit be made before they commenced treatment.
After Payments was made, they allegedly began injecting him without conducting proper tests.
His Family was asked to pay for oxygen which was not utilised. He was not given proper attention until he gave up the ghost on Tuesday, January 22,2023 , due to alleged negligence.
Students of the Institution have slated Jan. 25.2023 for a Peaceful Solidarity March in Memory of The deceased, from the University's Maingate to The Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
