ICPC uncovers N6bn padded in 2022 budget.

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences has charged the nation’s judiciary to aid the nation’s fight against corruption.

At a capacity building workshop on ‘Corruption as a threat to security’ for members of the House Committee on Anti Corruption, the agency says it has so far tracked N6 billion worth of projects ‘padded’ in the 2022 Budget.

The Buhari administration has made the fight against corruption one of its cardinal objectives with some remarkable achievements and setbacks.

The workshop offers the legislators an opportunity to evaluate some of the successes and challenges in supporting the work of anti graft agencies to curb corruption in the last three years.

Indeed, many studies have documented the negative effects of corruption on development, economic growth and democracy.

‘Corruption as a threat to security in Nigeria’ is in focus at this gathering.

There have been allegations by security personnel of non payment or under payment of their allowances and poor living conditions primarily due to corruption.
