Chief Igbinedion (Esama) of the Benin Kingdom might snatch UNIBEN land

The Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, has yet again been defeated before the Benin City Court over land tussles.

After a protracted disagreement with Igbinedion, the Chief was sued by the true owner of the land (Kada Plaza) in Benin City. But this is not the first instance. Some state residents contend that because of his prominent position, long-running lawsuits were unfairly decided in his favor.

It was claimed that his son, Lucky Igbinedion, was frantically raising money after losing the legal battle against the property's sole owner in order to keep his Kada Plaza, the top-ranked plaza building in Benin City that he built on the ground.

Besides that, the All Campus Show investigation reveals the recent land case with prominent activist and Chief Patrick Eholor over his land at Obe, in Edo state. Reports shows that the same Chief wanted to defraud Chief Osagie Eholor by taking this case to a court in Edo state

Confirming this, Chief Patrick assured us that he would go all the way to fight for his rights and he wouldn’t be intimidated by his malicious greed to claim his land.

"I am going all the way, if necessary, to the Appeal Court and then to the Supreme Court. The verdicts given in court these days have changed because people are willing to fight tooth and nail for justice. So I will fight to defend my right anytime any day."

"What is a supposed 90-year-old man doing with all these properties? This is a supposed chieftain, but he is a thief. What makes a man rich is what he does for others who are not able to do for themselves. You are powerful when you go beyond your strength to help others. However, he is far from helping anyone aside from himself and his family. "

''Because of greedy men like this, our students and youths would rather become politicians instead of scientists or doctors because of the alarming rate of stolen money in politics."

We recall that many Edo landowners have dragged the old Chief to court regarding his illegal claim to their property.

I hope that since the Chief is particular about amassing wealth for himself we won't be surprised if he goes after University of Benin main campus and snatch it from the Federal government to build another of his edifice.
