The Faculty of Education, Lagos State University, is set to host its 2nd Distinguished Lecture on Wednesday, June 3, with a focus on a SWOT analysis of Nigeria’s education sector.
The lecture, scheduled to hold at Makanjuola Hall, LASU, will commence at 11:00 a.m.
The event, themed “Reshaping Education in Nigeria and Securing a Better Future: The Imperatives of Curriculum Reforms and Stakeholder Engagement,” will be delivered by renowned education scholar, Prof. Clement Fasan.
Fasan, a former Dean of the Faculty of Education, LASU, is also a member of the Nigerian delegation to the UNESCO Conference held in Paris in 2015 and a former Visiting Professor on sabbatical at the University of Ottawa, Canada, between 2018 and 2019.
Punch reported that “The lecture is expected to provide a critical SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of Nigeria’s education system, while also highlighting the urgent need for curriculum reforms and stronger stakeholder engagement in shaping the future of the sector.”
The event is expected to bring together academics, policymakers, students, education stakeholders and members of the public for in-depth discussions on the challenges and prospects of education in Nigeria.
The Faculty of Education described the lecture as a timely intervention aimed at stimulating intellectual discourse on how to reposition the education sector for national development.
