The Management of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) at the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, Makurdi on Tuesday, 11th March 2025, paid a solidarity visit to the family of its first set of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) twin babies at Achusa settlement, Makurdi.
The Coordinator of Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, Dr. Luper Uva, along with other staff at the BSUTH Annex, visited the family of Mr. and Mrs. Terfa Iornongo, to check on the well-being of their twin boys that were delivered on the 9th of January, 2025.
Dr. Uva expressed satisfaction with the growth and health of the babies, describing them as being in perfect condition. He also extended gratitude to the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for subsidizing the cost of IVF treatments at the teaching hospital, making fertility treatment more accessible to families.
The Coordinator commended the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande, for his commitment to bringing his expertise from private practice into the public sector.
The hospital management presented the twins with two hampers of gifts and cash donations to support their upbringing.
The successful IVF delivery at the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital marks a significant milestone in reproductive healthcare in Benue State, offering hope to many families struggling with infertility.
