Unfulfilled Demands: Strike Advances As ASUU Members meets across campuses.

The Academic Staff Union Of Universities is holding meetings in different campuses due to the unfulfilled promises by the Government. The peace enjoyed by the students may be cut short, if the Government does not anwser the needs of ASUU after two Ultimatums.


ASUU gave the Nigerian Government a 21 days Ultimatum which began on August and also the 14 days Ultimatum which began on 23 September and ended on October 6,2024.


After the first Ultimatum ended ,Education Minister Prof. Tahir Mamman met with ASUU representatives to avert any possible strike action first on August 28 and September 6. The Minister also set up a sub-committee to solve the union demands.


According to ASUU President, Mr. Emmanuel Osadeke, accused the Government of lacking the required commitment to avoid another strike action.


According to the PREMIUM TIMES, a source within the Leadership of ASUU who does not want to be quoted for lacking the authority to speak on the matter, said that the ASUU chapters are expected to decide before Next week Tuesday after which the National Executive Council(NEC) of the Union will meet to clarify the chapters decision.


In a report in the PREMIUM TIMES "A source confirmed that his chapter , A Federal University in North West are in favour of the strike.
