Asuu Laments To The President On The Sufferings Of The Campuses.

The University of Ibadan Chapter of the ASUU(Academic Staff Union of Universities) has voiced out their frustration of the hardships and problems in the public Universities like poor renumeration  of lecturers and other problems.



According to Vanguard News report "In a statement released by the Chairman of the chapter Professor Ayoola Akinwole, said that the Union has been patient and has given the government time to resolve these issues.



"He also noted that the federal government has been nonchalant about their Complains and that the 14 day ultimatum they gave is reaching its end. According to him the government should meet the Union demands to maintain peace on the University campuses  across the nation.


The Professor also emphasised the repercussions of the current situation  stating that "Many lecturers have fled the country while others have died due to hardships. 


 According to him the 64 years of Nigeria Independence, there has been decline in both education and state of the nation relating this to the poor leadership in the country. He also said that the government should improve the educational system by allocating the necessary revenue to the educational sector and cur down on their excesses like New presidential Jet and luxury vehicles. 

He also revealed that there is an increasing gap between the rich and poor and that there is no middle class  anymore due to the High cost of living. He finished his speech by emphasising that the failure to address the problems will lead to serious consequences like Food Insecurity."
