Edo State Governorship Aspirants Urged to Participate in Public Debate; INEC's Credibility Questioned.

As the September governorship elections approach, it is crucial for the people of Edo state to make informed decisions about their future leaders. In light of this, I Chief Dr Patrick Osagie Eholor otherwise known as Ultimate Equal, strongly urge key candidates Monday Okpebholo, Olumide Akpata, and Asue Ighodalo to participate in public debates, allowing citizens to gauge their competency and commitment to the betterment of Edo state.

In recent years, the credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been called into question, with numerous election results being decided by the courts rather than the people's votes. This has eroded public trust in the electoral process and threatens the foundation of democracy in Nigeria.

In contrast to Nigeria's situation, the United States has seen a relatively smooth transition of power through its democratic processes. Although not without its own controversies, such as the 2000 Bush v. Gore case and the 1948 presidential election, the United States has continually strived to ensure fair and transparent elections.

It is high time for INEC to address these concerns and take measures to restore faith in the electoral system. By ensuring neutrality and promoting fairness, INEC can play a vital role in safeguarding Nigeria's democratic principles and fostering a strong, stable political environment.
