Shun immoral acts, varsity advises students.

The McPherson University, Ogun State, has advised its 434 matriculating students to avoid immoral acts and be diligent.

Guest lecturer at the 11th matriculation, and Company Secretary, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Mr Rotimi Idowu, whose lecture was titled, ‘Pursuing academic excellence,’ enjoined the matriculants to eschew diligence, resilience and crave for academic laurels so as to make a difference at a time the world was tilting towards a direction of near perfection.

According to a Punch report, he said, “Part of being diligent is not missing classes, either for fellowship or church programmes but endeavouring to strike a balance in all aspects of activities while on campus to achieve academic and spiritual goals. The enemy of diligence is laziness and encouraged the matriculants to avoid any action that will prevent them from achieving their academic and future pursuit”.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, told the students to avoid immoral acts, as the institution would not hesitate to suspend or expel any undergraduate that falls short of the laid down rules and regulations of the institution.

“You are to attend chapel regularly, as it is a compulsory spiritual exercise.  McPherson University has zero tolerance for sexual immorality, drug use and abuse, examination malpractices, and other social vices”.

The institution, established in February 2012, by the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria had 418 undergraduates and 16 Post Graduates, which was the highest number of intakes in the history of the institution.
