Labour Party Nigeria, has on Tuesday, 4, October, 2022, declared openly the launch of an official platform that is exclusively dedicated to Nigerians in Diaspora. This information was disclosed by spokesperson for the committee; Rev. Chidi Jacob in a Press Conference organized by Labour Party Committee on Diaspora, at the Party’s Headquarters in Utako axis of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria.
According to the release signed by Mr Jeffery Ukhuriegbe, the Secretary, Labour Party Committee on Diaspora, the platform will allow Nigerians in Diaspora to participate in Nigeria's democratic process and economic development, and also provide them with an official, convenient, and interactive gateway to individual and group membership in the Labour party of Nigeria.
While addressing members of the Press, Rev. Chidi Jacob commended Barrister Julius Abure, who is the Alpha and Omega of the Party, for this intelligent establishment. He further described his leadership as an example of what the party hopes to make available to all Nigerians when elected said that Labour's Party Ideology, it is centered on human capital effort and further elaborated on the features of the Platform.
“ The blessing of this country is in Our human capital although Nigeria is blessed with natural resources, the greatest of our blessing is our human capital that is the humans God has blessed is with. More than any other political party in Nigeria, the labour party's ideology is centered on our human capital, and those in the Diaspora represents a huge portion of this human capital.
So this effort is geared towards opening the door to create equal platforms so that Nigerians living in Diaspora can have access to participate in our democratic process. That we live outside the country does not make us foreigners we have every right to participate in this process.”
Affirming the features of the platform he said:
“ The platform is accessible on line, thereby making it equal for everyone. You don't have to know me or the party chairman to be a part of this. Any Nigerian in the diaspora can easily access it.
The Diaspora Center allows Individual registration as an individual member of the party irrespective of location an avenue of for professionals who willing to contribute to the development of the country, to indicate their area of specialization and form caucuses that will advice the government and make themselves available for services back here. We are not just asking people to get involved but we have also created a platform that enables them to get involved. ”
We are interested in working with Nigerian support groups across the world The platform allows them to register as a group and once this is done, the Labour Party will engage them to walk the process together.” he said.
Rev. Chidi also Urged Nigerians not to be carried away with promises ,but to also observe candidates who are already fulfilling their promises, stating that Labour party is committed to building a new Nigeria and the Diaspora center gives Nigerians abroad the opportunity of continuous engagement during the election and after the election.
