The National Human Rights Commission has assured One Love Foundation in regards to the petition issued against Damini Ebunoluwa Ogunu, popularly known as Burnaboy.
In his fight against injustice has led to the continuity of further investigations into the Cubana night club shooting.
This was shown in a letter issued to the One Love Foundation on the 25th of July, addressing the petition earlier sent by the organization.
It has been a while since One Love Foundation took an interest in the Cubana night club shooting case, involving Burna Boy's security engaged in a shooting spree at the night club in Victoria Island.
According to reports, a member of Burnaboy's security squad shot at a fellow due to a misunderstanding that occurred that night.
In response to the Human Rights Commission, Chief Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor, also known as the Ultimate Equal, stated, "This is not my fight." It is the fight for the right thing to be done in our society. If it were my child or a friend, I would correct them, and if they resisted, I would not hesitate to report them to the appropriate authorities. Because an injury to one is an injury to all. Come to think about this, anyone could be the victim. To all those opposing this motion, what if it was your sister or close relatives involved ? Will you justify his actions? He asked.
"We fought the government for shooting at citizens during the END SARS and Burna Boy, as well as other musicians, condemned it.
A lot of Nigerians were engaged in the trend irrespective of the people accused. I am baffled that people have not come out to fight this injustice. We all listen to his song, but it doesn't mean we should ignore this injustice done. We hate his actions and advocate for the act and its perpetrator to be sanctioned. Silence on this will further lead to more provocative acts that will pollute society.
"This was how corruption started in the country, and it has escalated to the point of no control. Moreover, actions like this should not be endorsed in any way. We are doing the right thing and as a foundation, we will not allow this case to go beyond us. We will fight it."
"However, letters of petitions have been sent to several federal and foreign organizations such as Grammy awards, the Police, etc and we appreciate their positive response thus far."
