ASUU Strike: Civil groups in solidarity with Nigeria Labour Congress over planned nationwide protest

Two human rights organizations have joined forces to support the Nigeria Labour Congress against a nationwide protest that supports ASUU over the state's dwindling public university system.

This comes days after the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, in a statement on July 15, charged other members of the congress to gear up for a nationwide protest aimed at sending students back to school.

Following this directive, Human Rights Defenders, International Solidarity for Peace, and Human Rights Initiative, along with the Coalition of Civil Society, have backed the NLC for a rally over the lingering strike.

The demonstrations are scheduled to take place in all 36 states of the federation, including the FCT, on Tuesday, July 26, and Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

We recall that the NLC had previously rejected President Buhari's two weeks ultimatum, stating that the nationwide strike would continue.
