The Edo State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, and also an aspirant for the Edo State House of Assembly, Ikpoba-Okha State Constituency under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Hon. Asemota Igiogbe has responded to the social media attacks criticizing the movement going from one party to other and comparing the popularity of their presidential principal to the previous election in 2023.
In his statement, Asemota said their principal, Peter Obi, his popularity and respect today are stronger and deeper than they were in 2023.
"In 2023, many Nigerians saw him as a fresh alternative, especially among youths and first-time voters. Today, despite the economic hardship and growing dissatisfaction in the country, more Nigerians now appreciate the kind of prudent leadership, accountability, and issue-based politics he represents.
"What has changed is that his support base has expanded beyond young people to include professionals, traders, market women, and even many Nigerians who were initially skeptical in 2023. The Obidient Movement has remained active and resilient, and his message of competence, production, and national unity continues to resonate strongly across the country"
Talking about the party NDC as a new party, Asemota described The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a growing political party that represents the desire of Nigerians for a new direction built on accountability, competence, transparency, and people-oriented governance. "The party was officially recognized by INEC after years of legal and administrative processes, and it is actively and massively attracting credible leaders and grassroots supporters across the country.
"As a movement and as candidates, we are preparing seriously for the elections through grassroots mobilization, voter education, youth engagement, and strengthening our structures from the polling unit and ward level upward. We understand that elections are not won on social media alone, so we are focused on connecting directly with the people and presenting practical solutions to their everyday challenges." he concluded
