Awka – The founder and president of All Campus Show, Busuyi Ojo‑Jobus, has commented on the recently concluded governorship election in Anambra State. The election re‑elected Governor Professor Charles Soludo, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

In his statement, Jobus described Soludo as a man of the people, a mature individual with a pure heart. He also clarified that he has never engaged Soludo in a one‑on‑one meeting, but that he admires his style and demeanor.

He emphasized that his remarks are not intended to portray himself as a spokesperson for the governor, nor does he wish to be labeled as such.

Regarding the election, Jobus said:

“Many lamented that the higher institution students do not show up to vote, despite the rate of the voters, well, let me establish that the statistics didn't show the age group that registered and also, many politicians have wasted time that is precious to the young to vote and will not be counted as well as the misbehavior of many politicians when they get to the office."

Furthermore, we have heard many allege that the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) was involved in vote‑buying, while others have accused Professor Charles Soludo of orchestrating it. With my years in media, I have observed and  participated closely in elections across the North, South, and Western regions of Nigeria.”

He continued:

“I am aware that some candidates instruct their party loyalists not to purchase votes but many loyalist would still do that without the consent of the candidate; however, the role of loyalists is often to secure votes in order to demonstrate the candidate’s capacity to win their polling units. Is the candidate at fault? No. Are the loyalists at fault? They are the ones who err.

Therefore, when assigning blame, it should be directed toward the loyalists, not majorly the candidates, unless thorough investigations reveal otherwise.”

He added:

“If one understands Anambra’s political landscape, it becomes clear that the state does not entertain foreign political parties. APGA is indigenous to Anambra, and its people take great pride in their local politics."

"Peter Obi does not even secure his own polling units. It is possible that vote‑buying occurred in Obi’s units has bought other votes; some individuals will go to great lengths to win their units to prove they deliver their units, even if it does not guarantee overall victory.

To a state‑oriented individual, losing a unit is seen as an embarrassment greater than losing the entire election.”

Finally, Jobus noted:

“Moreover, Professor Charles Soludo has served the nation and the people of Anambra with distinction, demonstrating maturity and effectiveness surpassing that of many former governors in the state.”

Jobus concluded his remarks.
