Students of the state-owned Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma have hailed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and Governor elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo on his victory in the just-concluded Edo state governorship election.
The students who took their joy online through their various social media handles expressed their happiness following the victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo at the polls are optimism that this new administration would bring about positive change to the institution, which has faced numerous challenges from the outgoing administration led by Godwin Obaseki.
The students appealed to Okpebholo to prioritize the development and funding of the university and also urge the incoming administration to address the lingering challenges facing the institution, including infrastructure decay, hike cost of school fee and other payments, poor funding among others
Okpebholo's victory has been seen as a new dawn for Edo state, and the students of AAU are eager to see the positive impact of his administration on the institution and to revitalize the university and restore its former glory.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the keenly contested Saturday 21, 2024 governorship election in the state securing 291,667 votes to defeat Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 247,274 and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) who came a distant third in the race with 22,761 votes.
