The second day of the Yinka Odumakin Inter-Faculty Debate Prize and Public Lecture was a resounding success today at Ododuwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University. 


The event, focusing on the topic "Nation Building: Should an Activist Consider a Career in Politics?" Speakers from various faculties presenting their cases.


The debate involved faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Law and Technology.

Faculties of Agriculture and Arts supported the motion, while Law and Technology countered it.

Notable references included Yinka Odumakin, Temilade Salami, Fumilayo Kuti, Wole Soyinka, among others.


Judges and Audience Response

Judges Mr. Oluwafẹmi Ajogonlo and Mr. Ogunperi Taofeek commended the speakers on their performance, focusing on diction, references, and time management.

Audience engagement was high, with individuals sharing insightful perspectives on the debate topic.


A musical performance by the Department of Music added to the event's vibrancy while Dignitaries and Special Guests,

Dignitaries present included Dr. Joe Okei Odumakin, President of OOF, and the wife of the late Yinka Odumakin.


Popular political analyst Edmund Obili and Mr. Debo, the senior legal adviser to the Attorney General of Osun State, were among the distinguished guests.


The event paid tribute to the late Yinka Odumakin, with an emotional documentary showcasing his impactful legacy.

The documentary, starting with clips from his burial program, highlighted his national contributions and enduring influence.
