A firm, Alpha Morgan Capital has renovated the Library Lobby and Makerspace of the University of Lagos
Speaking at the official commissioning of the Library Lobby and Makerspace, Group Managing Director, Alpha Morgan Capital, Mr Ade Burimo, disclosed that the UNILAG library’s project was brought to his attention in 2022. He stated that it was at that point he promised the Vice-Chancellor at the time, Prof. Toyin Ogundipe, that Alpha Morgan Capital would also sponsor the re-modeling of the Lobby and Makerspace of UNILAG Main Library.
“We are a leading institution in Africa and we feel the need to ensure that whatever comes out of the institution is useful to the industry. We decided to intervene by making sure that the school is where they are been trained and in line with the modern way of learning.
“That is why we decided to support this project with N100 million. We are happy to commission it today. This is a way of giving back to the nation and to the world. If we don’t produce quality graduates, the future will suffer for it. That is why we decided to come to the grassroots, where these children are being trained so that they have well-balanced minds and add value to the business world.”
UNILAG VC, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, maintained that UNILAG library’s existence had continued to optimise the concept of transformation from traditional space to an environment that fosters learning and research.
“The project has remarkably transformed the library into a student-centered hub that seamlessly combines functionality, aesthetics, and a strong sense of community.
“This is a transition that models the essence of learning in relationship with others, rethinks our space, and raises the visibility of the library to serve the next generation of users. It is a new dawn.”
