On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, the Faculty of Management Science Students Association (FAMSSA) University of Calabar hosted a significant inauguration ceremony in the SUG Senate Chambers to formally introduce its recently elected executives.
Emmanuel Sunday, the event's chairman, expressed gratitude in his opening remarks for the successful organization of the event and extended appreciation to the FAMSSITES who attended, acknowledging their commitment to the purpose of the day.
The ceremony's highlight was the swearing-in of the elected executives and the presentation of certificates of office, overseen by Osani Onwukwe, Chief Judge of FAMSSA, following Section 38, Subsection 1, and Section 6 of the FAMSSA constitution as amended.
Hon. Evaristus Akpanke, the Emeritus President, provided valuable advice to the incoming president and executive members, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, prioritizing the interests of the student body, and underlining the significance of even small-scale projects. He urged flexibility and responsiveness in leadership.
In his acceptance speech, President Comrade Ekpe Itam outlined his vision for the term, focusing on fostering strong student-management relationships and advocating for various student needs, including cultural, educational, and recreational activities.
Notable attendees included Hon. Inah Simon, Union Leader; Osani Onwukwe, Chief Judge of FAMSSA; Rt. Hon. William Odiong, Speaker of FAMSSA; and the President of PASSA, along with ELECO members.
