The Global President of One Love Foundation and the Father of Nigerian Students has spoken on the corruption going in the security agencies in Nigeria, emphasizing on the Correctional Service Commission, he gave kudos to the officers in charge of the prisoners, he said warders are doing the toughest job because they are with the toughest criminals who have been in a way found guilty.
In his statement with the pressmen, Father of Nigerian Students-FoNS said "Correctional Services as we all known it was formerly called Nigerian prison and it is simply means rehabilitation of those who are mentally or found guilty as criminals in order to correct their character before they are released back to the society and we need to give kudos to the warders because they are doing great job, they are the one dealing With the toughest criminals, they are incharge of the job started by the police, DSS or EFCC."
Eholor in his words said he has written to the ministry of interior to allow him visit the prisons in order to talk with them and still give evidence of many who are not guilty of their offence, there is no trial but just kept there, I am really ready to do something better for the prisons and the prisoners.
Talking about the Nigerian Police, FoNS said "Although, I have in many times worked with police and also had experience of them, during the #EndSars protest, I was arrested by some over-serious police, the police also has some supports, they are underpaid and frustrated, they need to be paid well, add more men, vehicles, gadgets for proper operation, they need insurance for their family.
"Another blunder about police is compelling police from another region on others, for instance, bringing policemen from Abuja to operate in Benin, they do not know anywhere here, the people, culture, how people operate here and all and before now, if they want to recruit the policemen, they will call the odionwere (the area Chief) or the Enogie (the town traditional heads to see if the people they are about to give our uniforms and guns worth it. Talking about their background and personalities among men but today, police are chosen by bribery and corruption.
I replied Muyiwa, the police PRO sometimes ago when complaining about the police taking bribe, I said to him that you are seeing what you gave us and also, refusing to take care of the uniform men is a blunder, imagine you give a police man fifty thousand to one hundred thousand as salary, with four children, the school fees, feeding and even hospital bills when they are sick, you will realize that the salary is a bit bigger than a seed of mustard, so a police will rather be a begger in the day or arm robbers at night with their guns, if the President want to to tackle corruption from that angle, they should be able to provide them a living wage. The Police has no union to speak for them and I stand as their union to speak for them." Eholor concluded
