Flood vs Resumption after ASUU Strike: Flood affected Students Cry for Help.

Following the Elimination of the prolonged ASUU strike, resumption has been challenging for some Nigerian students, due to the disasters they are faced with. While funding alone seems to be the challenge of some students, for some others, it is coupled with the devastating effects of the flood.

A University student with her name undisclosed, lamented how the flood came at a wrong time and affected her parents business also leaving their properties destroyed. With this there is a little imbalance in the family,  which can not guarantee her going back to school. The final year student who said that the semester is short, emphasized that she requires a lot of finance to settle school activities. But sadly, she has not even gotten transport fare to resume. She further called upon good willing individuals to Come to her rescue. She however expressed hope that this challenge will soon be over. to her “ where as, this is the last year, after I graduate I'll not suffer same again. I have hope.” She said.

Another UNILAG Student who resides in Delta, also lamented the outcome of the flood. Speaking to All Campus Show he indicated that the flood and the resumption came at the wrong time stressing that both collided to affect his resumption to School.

As a result of the flood, most of his personal belongings were damaged not leaving out his parents farmland. According to him “we do farming hoping that the crops will yield before resumption, So we can sell for income. But the flood came to spoil everything we spent six months cultivating. Now there is no other means”.

In some Universities, lecturers are aware of the current difficulties which  some Students are passing through and they have displayed a great level of understanding to make things easy for these students.

All Campus Show implore lecturers who are yet to consider the flood affected students in their institutions to please do so as a demonstration of encouragement to them.
