Chief Dr. Patrick, Father of Nigerian Students, Slams the Federal Government and Others Over the Prolonged ASUU Strike


In the wake of a recent update by ASUU on the extra four weeks added to the ongoing strike, human rights activist and the Founder of One Love Foundation, Chief Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor, on Monday, sued the Federal Republic of Nigeria and ministries involved in students' continued delayed stay at home


.

Other ministries include the Minister of Education, the Attorney General, the Minister of Justice, and the Minister of Labor and Employment.

All Campus Show correspondent reviews FHC/B/CS/108/2022, filed as a 17-page document titled "ORIGINAL SUMMONS BROUGHT PURSUANT TO ORDER 3 RULE 9 OF THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT (CIVIL PROCEDURE) RULES 2019, AND UNDER THE INHERENT JURISDICTION OF THIS COURT TO ADMINISTER JUSTICE."



This includes an affidavit by the plaintiff in support of the originating summons, a Certificate of incorporation for One Love Family and Caring Association, a written address, and an affidavit of non-multiplicity pursuant to Order 9 (2) (D) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules2019, all sworn to at the Federal High Court Benin.


The suit was issued for the continuous neglect of students in public universities in Nigeria.


He further addressed the negligence of education by the concerned authorities as a violation of student rights to education, which is found under article 17(1) of the African Charter on Human and People's Rights.



We recall the oath sworn by Chief Dr. Patrick at the awarding ceremony for his doctorate degree.

 Where the human rights fighter dedicated the awards to Nigerian students and vowed to fight for them at all cost

And we further recognize this honorary act as a prerequisite for fulfilling his oath.

While the fight against this injustice persists, we await the outcome of the lawsuit in court.
