As I recently celebrated my 20th anniversary in media, reflecting on my journey and the state of Nigerian media, I counted my personal achievements in all media fields as well as achievements of many media outlets through sacrifices, and collaborations.
It's good to realize the setbacks of many individuals in the media for the upcoming ones to learn, but fortunately, I celebrated my colleagues who have made it to the limelight, especially those in filming, News and Public Relations.
Many media houses have risen to stardom while some have danced down from the top ranking.
Television Continental (TVC) is a Nigerian national television station established in 1991, offering news and entertainment programs with significant achievements, with one of its popular shows referred to as 'Your View' which is the largest show in Nigeria. It will interest you to know that TVC's entertainment segment outperforms its news segment.
TVC and Channels TV used to top the Nigerian TV news space, until Arise TV, founded in 2012, changed the dynamics.
To me, TVC News is no longer in its former first or second position, going to the level gained by NTA. New Central News, just founded in 2018, is now gaining ground and working hard to the top.
A review of TVC's news strategy and management may be necessary to regain its standing and I will like to conclude that Television Continental News needs a wake-up call! It's very possible to do the right thing for TVC news to recover it former glory, there is possibility for New Central News to top the Nigerian television space if the both engage the secret of what can be done which I have.
