EDMA PLANS TO RESCUE OKO-OBOH IWINOSA, EDO INDIGENE TRAFFICKED TO BURKINA FASO.



The Edo State Government, through the Edo State Migration Agency (EDMA) has announced the plan to rescue one Miss Oko-Oboh Iwinosa, an indigene of Edo State who was reportedly trafficked to Burkina Faso in 2020 and is currently stranded.


Her case came to light following a viral video on TikTok, shared by the user @taleswithblessed. In swift response, the Agency established formal contact with the Nigerian Embassy in Burkina Faso. As of today, EDMA awaiting their response to proceed with the official clearance process required to carry out the rescue operation.


The EDMA team is fully prepared and on standby, with all necessary internal arrangements in place to effect a swift and safe return of Miss Iwinosa the moment clearance is granted. This is a matter of urgency, and the Edo State Government remains fully committed to fulfilling its responsibility in this regard.


The Edo government extend gratitude to the efforts of @taleswithblessed for bringing this situation to the public’s attention. There act of compassion exemplifies the power of social advocacy.

Speaking with the Director General of the Edo State Migration Agency (EDMA) Mr. Lucky Agazuma, he said "I have connected with our dear sister, Oko-Oboh Iwinosa, via WhatsApp video call. We spoke at length, and from the visuals, it was evident where she’s been living under extremely difficult conditions. For her safety, we chose to mute parts of her voice to protect her identity and dignity."

Agazuma further said that plans are already in motion to bring Iwinosa home not just to Nigeria, but back to love, safety, and opportunity. This is more than a rescue. It is a reaffirmation of hope.
