Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State has gotten approval from the National Broadcasting Commission for an operational licence for a campus radio.
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, ‘Yemi Ajibola, disclosed this in a statement sent to our correspondent on Friday.
According to Ajibola, the approval was contained in a letter addressed to the Rector of the institution, Dr Koye Jolaoso, by the NBC Secretary, Francisca Aiyetan.
The PRO noted that the approval was part of the rector’s effort in resuscitating the campus radio which would also serve in the training of students of the institution.
Ajibola stated, “I am directed to convey the approval of the National Broadcasting Commission to your request to commence full transmission on your Campus FM Radio Station, MAPOLY 99.7MHz, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“This is based on the report of the successful completion of Test Transmission by the Station in compliance with the provisions of the National Broadcasting Commission Act, Cap. N11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.”
The image maker stressed that the development would foster the development of the 46-year-old institution by providing practical training for students of the institution in the Mass Communication Department.
“With this development, the agenda for a new MAPoly is boosted as it will enhance Mass Communication training in the 46-year-old institution thus helping students acquire necessary practical skills to make them not only functional but competitive in the industry upon graduation,” Ajibola concluded.
