UN!LAG management also dumb for allowing blackout on campus over 300M debt-Jobus

University of Lagos power has been disconnected by Eko Electricity Distribution Company over unpaid electricity bills on Tuesday.

This is as a result of increased tariff by the Federal Government as stated by the Benin Distribution Company when talking to their management over University of Benin power outage.

According to Punch news "This challenge was further made worse when EKEDC upgraded the university’s tariff category from “Band B” to “Band A,” resulting in a hike in monthly electricity bills. Before the upgrade, UNILAG was said it be paying between N150 million and N180 million monthly.

"However, the June bill under the new “Band A” tariff nearly doubled, reaching almost N300 million—a 100% increase that the university is struggling to manage. The institution’s management expressed regret over the blackout that has hit the campus since Tuesday."

It is unfortunate that UNILAG management awaits this trouble to come before fighting it.

In an interview with All Campus Show Founder this morning, Comrade Busuyi Ojo-Jobus, who described the incident as mental inaction of the management to think fast when the same happened to University of Benin and University of Ibadan.

"It is a pity that our Professors are mentally lazy to think ahead, I thought many other University managements should have by now get ready for the blackout trouble ahead of them, so far it has happened to many other Universities, others should have prevented it.

"I can describe this dirty incident as two wise men following each other, the first enter a pit in the presence of other and other also fall into the same pit but they are two wise men with two eyes each. Universities are headed by Professors, the highest rank in the academic industry which we seen as wise but unfortunately, they all face one direction to sleep and fall into same pit, these so-called lecturers will fail students for lack of preparations for their exams but see them failing woefully in the presence of their students, it is a pity that these are the people we entrusted the future of our children, no wonder Nigeria is retrogressing in the economy because all these Professors have taught the students what does not matter but left what matters that should be useful to them."

"I called the University of Lagos Vice Chancellor, Professor Sade to know what the students should expect but she refused to pick up nor replied the message I sent, it is a pity and that is why I have been telling the young ones to stop getting admission to the Universities because their is nothing to learn there. Imagine a school with engineering department that are spending N150million on power supply monthly instead of building their personal power supply or inverter that will serve the school and also sells to neighboring community to generate fund to school pocket. Students are hereby advised to get admitted to online schools for better knowledge and certificate" Jobus Concluded
