Corruption is overdue in Nigeria, Politicians should be held responsible for hardship-Ultimate Equal

In a stunning turn of events, a Kenyan senator recently took to social media to tender his resignation and confess to the misuse of public funds alongside his fellow senators. The viral video detailed their lavish spending on expensive clothing, wristwatches, and other luxury items.

This courageous revelation sheds light on the pervasive issue of corruption plaguing not only Kenya but many other African nations, including Nigeria.

Nigerians, it is time to take a cue from our Kenyan counterparts and demand accountability from our elected officials. Corruption has long been a scourge on our nation, hindering development and eroding public trust in our democratic institutions. We must stand united and call for an end to corrupt practices that siphon resources away from critical infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other essential services.

Our constitution, as outlined in Chapter 2, Section 15(5), mandates that "the State shall abolish all corrupt practices and abuse of power." It is time for us to hold our leaders to this standard and insist on the transparency we deserve. Drawing inspiration from the bravery of the Kenyan senator, let us demand investigations into similar allegations of financial impropriety within our government.

We cannot afford to remain complacent as corruption threatens the very fabric of our society. The actions of the Kenyan youth should serve as a wake-up call to all Africans to unite in the fight against graft and hold our leaders accountable for their actions. As Nigerians, let us take the lead and send a strong message that we will no longer tolerate corruption in our government.
