The Global President of One Love Foundation and Father of Nigerian students, Chief Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor otherwise known as Ultimate Equal has called on the EFCC Chairman to resign within 48 hours if he fails to arrest Yahaya Bello, former Kogi Governor.
In his words, Ultimate Equal said "EFCC chairman, you said you will resign if government do not allow you to persecute Yahaya Bello who allegedly stole 84 Billion naira of kogi state money, who paid money for his unborn children and left Kogi people to their fate without have a thought of going to school or hospital, infrastructure and business development in the state.
"Also, Betta Edu, the minister of Humanitarian has also not been arrested, who transfered N550M to her personal account out of 37B that is meant for us."
BBC.com reported that "Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister Betta Edu was initially suspended in January over the alleged diversion of $640,000 of public money into a personal bank account.
"President Bola Tinubu then ordered an investigation into her ministry.
At the time Dr Edu, 37, denied any wrongdoing. Her office said she had approved the transfer into a personal account, which was not in her name, but said it was for the "implementation of grants to vulnerable groups".
"The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said during its nearly six weeks of investigating so far, it had found "many angles" to examine.
"As it is now, we are investigating over 50 bank accounts that we have traced money into. That is no child's play. That's a big deal," its chairman Ola Olukoyede said in the latest edition of the agency's monthly e-magazine, EFCC Alert"
In his words again, Dr. Eholor said "What EFCC do is to chase Yahoo boys and let your officers abuse Women, we are telling you because you might resign in shame, it was your word that "if you are not allowed to persecute Yahaya Bello that you will resign." But now, you are chasing Yahoo boys, although, it's good for your exercise but I don't buy into it."
Channels TV reported on this case that "Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency called on those with vital information about the former Kogi governor’s whereabouts to reach the commission or the police.
“Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is wanted by the EFCC for offences relating to economic and financial crimes to the tune of N80.2 Billion,” the EFCC said in a Thursday evening post on its Facebook page it captioned ‘Ex-Gov Yahaya Bello Wanted By the EFCC’.
“Anybody with information as to his whereabouts should report immediately to the Commission or the nearest police Station.
"Stern-looking EFCC operatives in front of the Abuja residence of ex-Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello on Wednesday, April 17, 2024
"Before then, fiery-looking EFCC operatives stormed the former Kogi leader’s residence in the Wuse area of Abuja, attempting to arrest Bello for arraignment. Despite the siege, which lasted hours, the agency could not arrest the former governor whom it claimed was “whisked away” by his successor Usman Ododo."
"I Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor also known as Ultimate Equal will keep reminding you about the case on Yahaya Bello and Betta Edu. I saw Betta with the president, drinking champagne and this means that nothing will happen as it's a mockery to Police, EFCC and the entire country.
Therefore, I am giving you Mr. Olukoyede 48 hours to resign or I will not have option than to take you to court, you this EFCC chairman for not holding onto your word. if you can be going up and down bursting Yahoo boys and celebrating it, why are you not bursting the governors, the senators, members of House of Representatives and all of those people in power, those who stole our oil and sell to white people?" Dr. Eholor concluded
