Photos: Lagos Gov meets Education management/Students leaders at One-day Interactive session.

 


The Lagos State Government has conducted a one-day interactive session with the Lagos tertiary institutions' heads on Tuesday.

The Student Consultative Assembly  went to have an interactive session along with  the Vice Chancellor of the university and the Dean, Students affairs DSA with the Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu.


The event was unveiled by Hon.Tokunbo wahab, The commissioner for Tertiary Education in lagos State, where he started by welcoming the Governor of Lagos State and appreciating him for being at the event despite his tight schedule. He also thank the Governor for giving his accelerating approval on this program. Wahab hailed the Governor  administration whose tenure has not experience interrupted academic Calender.


Soon after Prof. Olanrewaju was invited for his speech where he told the Governor that he is a man of legacy, where he explain further that legacy is not about what you leave for the people but what you leave in people. Olanrewaju titled his speech "Unequal inheritance, self -dissection and recurring contradictions" where he told the Governor about importance of setting stage for communication and understanding the critical issues of students.





Comrade Lukman Amolegbe, the former Students Union President (LASU) in his speech appreciated the government for the program and cited an example of during his own tenure as the Student Union president when they have to write series of letter to the past governor before an event like today can take place.


Hon. Sinai Agubiade gave an advise to the student telling them it is better to be name a cultists than getting involve in cultism, 


The NANS Chairman presented an agenda to the Governor called Beyond School Certificate (BSC).




The NULASS National president plead to the governor to increase the bursary and scholarship for the Lagos State indigene students and allow the indigene students pay less School fees than the normal fees paid by non indigene students 



Governor Sanwoolu in his speech stated that the country is going through a lot and let it known that it is not an excuse to misbehave. Governor said the event serves as an opportunity to confront our challenges in our various institutions. He made it known that some entrepreneur skills has been going on which other students has benefited from. He also said, we are happy as a Governor not just by ourselves but with what history will judge us with. He talked about how the two new transformed university in Lagos State is performing and said soon they would take over LASU if they do not buckle down.


The Governor has promised to increase the bursary from fifty thousand naira to sixty thousand naira and the scholarship from two hundred thousand naira to two hundred and twenty five thousand naira.


Governor Sanwoolu finally promised to give scholarship to physical challenge and less privileges.
