The Father of Nigerian Students-FoNS, Chief Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor otherwise known as Ultimate Equal has called on the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki on the appointment of the Judges as well as the Members of the House of Assembly.
In his statement with our correspondence this morning, Dr. Eholor (FoNS) said that "The appointment of Judges is a creation of the Constitution and not the whims and caprices of a Governor.
"Governor Godwin Obaseki should not repeat the night inauguration of Members of Edo State House of Assembly in June, 2019 and I hope Governor Godwin Obaseki does not swear in some Judges at night this time.
"The time to entertain Petitions are over, Governor Godwin Obaseki can not send a Petition to the National Judicial Commission, when he is the one that by Law is expected to swear in the Judges in Edo State. He should allow all the Judges to be sworn in and leave the one male or female Judges he does not want sworn in. They all been cleared and recommended." he ended
According to www.premiumtimesng.com, "Members of the House of Representatives have given a one-week ultimatum to the the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, to issue a fresh proclamation for the Edo State House of Assembly.
"The lawmakers arrived at the resolution on Wednesday while adopting the report of an ad-hoc committee mandated to investigate the crises in the state legislature.
"The House of Representatives had set up a 13-member ad-hoc committee to investigate the crises in the Edo State House of Assembly.
"While adopting the recommendations presented by Abdulrazak Namdas, chairman of the committee, the house also directed that all actions taken by the current assembly in Edo should be declared null and void pending proper inauguration."
