I was disappointed in NBA, association should shun partiality-Eholor

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is a non-profit, umbrella professional association of all lawyers admitted to the bar in Nigeria. It is engaged in the promotion and protection of human rights, the rule of law and good governance in Nigeria.

Prior to the Visit of some NBA excos recently to the residence of an unmentioned Politician who has election petition at the tribunal, the visit is uncalled for according to Eholor in a phone conversation with our correspondence, he said:

"I watched with huge disappointment and suprise the unwarranted visit and interview of the Chairman and his Exco of the Lion Bar,  Barrister Nosa Edo-Osagie Osagie to the residence of a politician who has a petition at the election petition tribunal."

"How can the NBA promise to set up a committee to monitor the case of a candidate of a political party at the tribunal and then thereafter follow up? Is the NBA now so ideal? How do you want the other candidates from the other political parties, Labour Party and All Progressive Congress etc to feel?"

"The NBA ought to be apolitical and neutral in the conduct of its affairs. It is an association that should fight for the oppressed and downtrodden and not the other way round. The action of the NBA Benin Chairman is most uncivilised and worrisome. It places the NBA as a body which has been compromised and now doing the bidding of the pay master. I call on the vocal voices of the NBA not resist this tyranny and assume the position of being the voice of the voiceless and the poor. If the NBA continues in this form then there will be no hope for the ordinary man again. NBA must wake up from its sleep."

Chief Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor otherwise known as Ultimate Equal, the Global President of One Love Foundation and the Father of Nigerian Students-FONS in his statement pleaded to all Nigerians, said "National development is a collective responsibility, only one person or organization cannot take Nigeria to the next better level, only the government cannot also do it but it is just a collective responsibility, we should promote rule of law, must treat promote equality, I wish to see a better Nigeria" he concluded.
