Due to the 2023 Governorship and House of Assembly elections, the NUC had instructed Universities in the country to suspend academic activities between February 22 and March 14, 2023.
However, following the postponement of the governorship elections, the tertiary institutions across the nation have announced new resumption dates for students.
In University of Calabar, a bulletin issued by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Gabriel Egbe, announced that the new date for resumption of academic activities is now March 20, as against the earlier date of March 14.
Prior to this announcement of postponement which come later than other school, a student of University of Calabar, name withheld announced on her WhatsApp status with two slides today" I have been in school since 2018, there is no time that school will not go on break, government shut down schools for every event that happen in the country, our government does not take education serious, i am totally discouraged, I may not go back to school again, I will spend my precious time to marry to build my family and future" she said.
