Nigeria is dealing with an unprecedented surge of varied and overlapping social security concerns, from robbery to kidnapping.
According to reports reaching All Campus Show, a failed attempt involved criminals who tried to rob persons in broad daylight in the Ajah area of Lagos state.
An eyewitness who was in the neighborhood at the time of the incident describes a gang of thugs harassing passersby, trying to collect their belongings in broad daylight.
Although it took some time for help to arrive, these victims were rescued by some garage Agberos.
"The guys started pestering them and trying to collect their handbags and phones before the Agberos’ stepped in to save the day and recused them."
"I could not do much since I was concerned that they might be armed.
" However, the thugs were ambushed by some Agberos when we started shouting and asking for help."
As a result, we advise Nigerians to do more to safeguard themselves as we go about our daily lives amid this depravity and high crime rate. We should avoid touching our phones in public places, headphones should be minimal in lonely and congested areas, and we should cry for help when we see a stranger lurking nearby.
Also, we are pleading with security officers to station some policemen in major crowded areas to adequately secure lives and properties.
